My journey

Many of the barriers and boundaries that hold us back are within us: our own internal voices and beliefs telling us what to do, how to act, what is off-limits, what is acceptable. Until those voices and beliefs are confronted, we live according to unquestioned rules passed down to us from previous generations. A seemingly minor event led me to saying ENOUGH!

I realized it was my own responsibility to set boundaries. I took a year off to study boundaries and barriers, questioning and discerning for myself what to accept, what to believe. Knowing the power of art through my mandala experiences, I used the year to explore watercolor, painting fence after fence after fence, all unique. I didn’t pair certain types of fences with certain internal boundaries. I simply let the fences speak somewhere in my subconscious. I share this process and my insights in Barriers, Boundaries and Lessons in Watercolor.
